Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is a protocol that associates the IP address with the MAC address of a network device. A static ARP entry is a permanent entry in your ARP cache.
For example, it might be necessary to add static ARP entries for routers connected to an Active/Active FireCluster. For more information, see Add Static ARP Entries for an Active/Active FireCluster .
To add a static ARP entry for a network device, from Fireware Web UI:
- Select Network > ARP Entries.
The Static ARP Entries dialog box appears. - Click Add.
The ARP Entry dialog box appears. - In the Interface drop-down list, select the interface that the device is connected to.
- In the IP Address text box, type the IP address of the device.
- In the MAC Address text box, type the MAC address of the device.
- Click OK.
The static ARP entry is added to the Static ARP Entries list.

Each console server ships with a default IP Address 192.168.0.1 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 You can use the arp command on a network connected PC/workstation to assign it an alternate IP address. To do this from a Windows PC: Click Start - Run; Type cmd and click OK to bring up the command line; Type arp -d to flush the ARP cache. The first column is IP address, a second column is corresponding to the MAC address. The ARP entry is either static or dynamic. Static ARP entry is manually added to the ARP cache table. Dynamic entries are what the ARP program gets. They stay there until the ARP cache timeout has expired. Manually add gateway 192.168.1.1 info to the laptops run a combination of: netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset, ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, ipconfig /flushdns What I have noticed and makes sense is that when I issue arp -a on any windows machine and if it is missing the entry for the raspberry pi I get a 'Destination Host.
To see the ARP table, select System Status > ARP Table.
